Eduardo A. Arthur Named President of Assurant Solutions/Puerto Rico

ATLANTA/SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico: Assurant Solutions, a leading global provider of extended service contracts and consumer debt protection programs, has named Eduardo A. Arthur president of the Assurant Solutions business in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean.

Arthur also will serve as president of Assurant affiliates Caribbean American Life Assurance Company (CALAC), Caribbean American Property Insurance Company (CAPIC) and Assurant Services of Puerto Rico, Inc, (ASPRI), all headquartered in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Assurant Solutions, which is part of Assurant, Inc. (NYSE:AIZ), has operated in Puerto Rico for 20 years. It is the island’s leading provider of creditor insurance sold through banks, credit card companies and other financial institutions and extended service contracts sold through major retailers, automobile dealers and wireless carriers.

Arthur joined Assurant Solutions/Puerto Rico in 2007 as senior vice president and chief operating officer. Over the past year he assumed additional responsibility for leading the sales and marketing team. He succeeds Miguel López Concepción, who now serves as president of the Assurant Solutions Latin America/Caribbean region.

Arthur is a certified public accountant (CPA), a chartered property and casualty underwriter (CPCU) and an associate in reinsurance (ARe). In 2001 he earned a masters in business administration (MBA) at the Risk Management School of St. John’s University in New York. He came to Assurant Solutions from National Insurance Group, where he held several positions.

Arthur participates in the community as a member of Colegio San Ignacio de Loyola Advisory Board. He also is a member of Colegio de Contadores Publicos Autorizados, the island’s CPA association, and the American Institute of Charter Property Underwriters.
